My paintings have always been about the natural world and my place in it. I believe that part of my role as artist is to make the viewer look, and think; question, and be moved; and part of my role is to bear witness.
In my studio, I combine mapping techniques, shifting perspective, symbols, memory, and emotion to arrive at images that evoke but don’t necessarily describe the space that inspired them. Each series is inspired by the experience of living in, working in, and exploring a particular environment. Though these are abstract images, at heart, they are landscapes, about the earth and its power over us: the human experience of the natural world.
